There are so many different types of coffee, and choosing the right one can be difficult, especially if you’re unsure of the differences between them.

A doppio espresso macchiato may be similar to an espresso macchiato, but there is a slight difference.

In this article, we’ll discuss what a doppio macchiato is, the ingredients used to make one, as well as how it is made.

What Is a Doppio Espresso Macchiato?

A doppio macchiato is similar to a typical espresso macchiato, but it includes steamed milk and extra espresso.

But what exactly is an espresso macchiato? It’s a single or double espresso served in a tiny cup with a dollop of warm, foamed milk on top.

Most people think of macchiatos as latte macchiatos, which have a lot more milk and less espresso than regular macchiatos.

Ingredients

To make a doppio macchiato, you will need 2 ingredients:

Espresso: Use high-quality espresso beans while making espresso. If you’re unsure of where to get high-quality espresso beans, Lifeboost coffee has the best range of light to dark roast coffee beans. In this recipe, you will be able to tell the difference between low-quality and high-quality coffee beans.

Milk: Whole milk is richer and froths more easily than skim milk. However, any milk that you have on hand should work.

Instructions

Making your doppio espresso macchiato is not too difficult.

Start by heating the milk in a small saucepan over medium heat. The milk should not reach boiling point. Once a lot of steam is coming off the milk, this should be around 2-3 minutes, remove the saucepan from the heat.

You can then use a handheld milk frother to froth the milk.

Add a big spoonful of steamed milk (the bottom, liquid layer of the milk) to the espresso. Then add a spoonful of the milk foam on top.

One espresso shot, a small amount of milk, plus a dollop of milk foam make up an espresso macchiato.

A "doppio espresso macchiato" is an espresso macchiato made with two espresso shots.

Doppio Espresso Macchiato Variations

There are many different ways to spice up your classic doppio espresso macchiato. You can change the taste of your coffee by either using different coffee beans and different types of milk or adding ingredients such as syrups and spices.

Adding spices is a great way to add a little flavor to your coffee. One of the best options is to add cinnamon. By adding more milk, you can also change your macchiato to a more subtle latte-type drink.

Try out a cinnamon almond milk latte for something milkier, or a cinnamon cloud macchiato if you’d prefer to stick to a macchiato with a twist.

If you want to take your cinnamon macchiato to the next level, Lifeboost coffee offers cinnamon apple-streusel coffee that will give you the feeling of eating warm, baked apple pastries baked with fresh cinnamon. This is perfect for making apple crisp coffee.
