Make this Season the Most Wonderful Time of Your Year with these Holiday Coffee Favorites

12 min read NOV 15, 2022

There are so many sights and sounds that fill the holiday season: beautifully lit trees, candles all aglow, silver, gold, green, and red hues fill homes and storefronts…then the sleigh bells ring (are you listening), bells carol, and choirs sing.

But, what about the classic aromas and flavors that come around this time of year?

Holiday flavors begin in early autumn with pumpkin spice lattes and ciders. Aromas fill the air with similar scents, pumpkin and apple. Then, these melt into smells and tastes with more of a winter flare…

The air reaches a new level of crispness, and you long for the nipping scent of peppermint just beneath your nose as you sip flavors of decadent chocolate, refreshing mint, and warm, creamy, coffee.

Spices become more prominent, beckoning simmering pot contents like cinnamon, clove, nutmeg, ginger, and all-spice to make their way to your coffee-filled mug, mixed with molasses for a sweet, spicy, gingerbread flavor, the aromas evoking warm childhood memories.

And, who doesn’t love a creamy, rich, sweet cup of eggnog, subtly dusted with a bit of spicy cinnamon, even better enjoyed as a clever addition to a hot holiday cup of coffee.

The holidays are truly a season for the senses!

So, as you enjoy the sights and sounds, be sure to enhance your holiday experience this year with the following treats, filled with warming aromas and decadently delicious flavors perfect for enjoying with friends, family, or alone curled up by the fire under your favorite holiday blanket.

        • Add coffee, peppermint extract, and vanilla to the warmed milk mixture, stirring to combine.
        • Pour into a large mug, then top with whipped cream and a dusting of cocoa powder. Enjoy!

          5- Tasty Toasted Chestnuts

Do you enjoy the flavor of chestnuts, slowly roasted over an open fire? Or, do you prefer this classic Christmas-time flavor pralined and sipped latte-style?

Here we’re indulging in the latter: warm, buttery, creamy, slightly nutty, and sweet. Go ahead and make up a large mug for you and your love and dress up like Eskimos, while listening to your favorite yuletide carols sung by a choir.

            6- Gingerbread’s Chill

This chilly take on a classic gingerbread latte is perfect for winter days that, well, aren’t that blustery.

Sure, we like to curl up by the fire with a hot latte when the temps are less than appealing, but when you’re out shopping for the perfect gift, running holiday errands, or if you simply love cold brew, this chilly latte is sure to satisfy.

            Ingredients

            • 8 oz cold brewed Lifeboost Gingerbread Latte Coffee
            • 2 teaspoons molasses
            • 2 tablespoons real maple syrup
            • 3 tablespoons heavy cream
            • Whipped cream, for topping
            • ¼ teaspoon gingerbread spice, for topping

            • Add cold brew, molasses, maple syrup, and heavy cream to a blender. Blend until combined.
            • Add ice to a tall glass, then pour blended latte over the ice.
            • Top with whipped cream and a dusting of gingerbread spice. Enjoy!

*We chose a blender here to thoroughly incorporate the molasses, but you can certainly skip the blender and simply add the cold brew, molasses, maple syrup, and heavy cream to an ice-filled glass, stirring to combine.

              7- Sipping Tiramisu for Two

The classic Italian dessert, tiramisu, has been a decadently delicious addition to many holiday tables for years, so why not enjoy this cocktail treat sipped straight from your mug this holiday season?

Combining the creamy, classic tiramisu flavors, complete with the subtle warmth and sweetness of dark rum and smooth, rich coffee, topped with a mascarpone infused whipped cream, is your mouth watering yet? I know mine is!

              Ingredients

              • Serves 2
              • 8 oz freshly brewed Lifeboost Tiramisu Coffee
              • 2 oz dark rum
              • 16 oz warmed milk
              • ½ cup chilled heavy cream
              • ¼ cup mascarpone cheese
              • 2 teaspoons cane sugar
              • Cocoa powder, for topping

              Instructions

              • Add mascarpone and sugar to a small bowl and whip until smooth, then slowly pour the chilled heavy cream along the sides of the bowl, continuing to whip until stiff peaks form. Set aside.
              • Brew coffee, then divide between two large mugs.
              • Add 1 ounce of rum to each mug, then add warmed milk to each mug (divided equally). Stir to combine. (For the milk: stovetop warming is best, just watch closely as you warm over medium heat, stirring frequently to avoid scorching.)
              • Top with mascarpone whipped cream, and dust with cocoa powder. Enjoy!

*If you prefer your base to have a touch of sweetness, simply add a teaspoon of sugar to each mug and stir to combine before topping with the mascarpone whipped topping.

                8- Santa’s Salty

Santa was running behind, and now he’s a bit salty that he had to leave to deliver toys without enjoying his salted caramel white chocolate mocha, an annual treat prepared by his lovely, dear Mrs. Claus.

So, Mrs. C is whipping up something extra special for St. Nick to enjoy upon his return, complete with a warm, relaxing dose of bourbon. Don’t worry, I’m sure she won’t include enough to land him on the naughty list!

                Ingredients

                • Serves 2
                • 6 ounces cold brewed Lifeboost White Chocolate Mocha Coffee
                • 1 ½ cups milk (your choice, dairy or non)
                • 4 ounces bourbon
                • 3-4 tablespoons salted caramel syrup (see recipe below for a homemade option)
                • Whipped cream, for topping
                • Caramel sauce, for topping
                • ice

                Instructions

                • Add ice, cold brew, milk, bourbon, and salted caramel syrup to a large bottle and shake until fully combined. (This is likely too much for a cocktail shaker, so a large bottle works best, but you can always divide the recipe in half and prepare separately in a cocktail shaker if you don’t have a large enough container to shake up this drink.)
                • Divide between two glasses (over ice if you’d like) and serve cold, topped with whipped cream and a drizzle of caramel sauce if desired. Enjoy!

*Feel free to omit the bourbon here for an alcohol free treat. And, you can always serve this one warm by simply using freshly brewed coffee, and warming your milk in a small saucepan prior to combining with the coffee and salted caramel syrup.

                  Homemade Salted Caramel Syrup

                  • 1 ½ cups cane sugar
                  • 3 cups water, divided (1 ½ cups each)
                  • 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
                  • ½ teaspoon sea salt

Add sugar and 1 ½ cups water to a medium saucepan and heat over medium-high heat, stirring occasionally until sugar is fully dissolved and the mixture comes to a rolling boil.

Stop stirring and allow mixture to boil (rolling boil) til it cooks down and begins to turn an amber color. This can take quite a while, even between 20-45 minutes. Check the mixture at around 15 minutes, then monitor closely until an amber color is reached.

When the boiling mixture is almost finished, heat the remaining 1 ½ cups of water separately, then as soon as the boiling mixture is finished, begin to very slowly add the amber-hued mixture to the hot water, stirring continually until the mixture fully incorporates. Be careful as it could spatter, and the mixture is very hot.

Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla and sea salt. Allow the syrup to cool completely, then store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one month.

                  9- It’s a Marshmallow World

Everyone knows it’s a marshmallow world in the winter,” so whip up this decadently sweet treat as a reward for your snow-shoveling labors or simply to enjoy while watching Hallmark movies curled up under your favorite blanket.

Really, no matter when or how you indulge, this marshmallow twist on a classic peppermint treat is the perfect addition to your mug this winter!

                  Ingredients

                  • Serves 2
                  • 16 oz Lifeboost Peppermint Mocha Coffee
                  • ½ cup half and half
                  • ½ cup mini marshmallows
                  • ½ teaspoon peppermint extract
                  • ¼ cup heavy whipping cream
                  • 1 tablespoon powdered sugar
                  • ½ teaspoon peppermint extract
                  • 1 teaspoon crushed candy cane, for topping
                  • 2 mini candy canes, for garnish

                  Instructions

                  • Add heavy cream, powdered sugar, and ½ teaspoon peppermint extract to a small chilled bowl. Beat with a hand mixer until medium peaks form. Set aside.
                  • Add half and half and mini marshmallows to a small saucepan over medium heat. Whisk continually until marshmallows completely dissolve, then whisk in ½ teaspoon peppermint extract and remove from heat.
                  • Brew coffee, then pour half of the prepared, warmed marshmallow creamer into each mug.
                  • Top with peppermint infused whipped heavy cream, and a sprinkle of crushed candy canes. Add a mini candy cane to your mug for garnish, if desired. Enjoy!

                    10- Holiday Spice Flat White

What makes it such a special treat for the holidays?

This drink adds some Christmas flare to the classic flat white with the addition of holiday spices like all-spice, star anise, cardamom, cinnamon, cloves, and nutmeg (infused right into our new Holiday Spice Coffee). Then the addition of a little sweetness and a touch of tangerine, topped with a thin velvety layer of steamed milk takes this delightful drink up a notch to pure holiday perfection!

I would love to try sample packs of the holiday flavors. The regular size is too big in case I don’t like a flavor. Do you have that?
