6 Tremendously Tasty Cherry Mocha Truffle Coffee And Chocolate Cherry Truffle Recipes

9 min read MAR 12, 2024

Plump, juicy, tart, and slightly sweet cherries seem to be my favorite afternoon snack of late.

These wonderful, natural treats are inflammation fighters, heart health boosters, sleep aids, and well, they're just down right tasty.

But, when you combine this phenomenal stone fruit with velvety rich, slightly bitter dark chocolate, and smooth but bold Lifeboost medium roast coffee, the result is simply out of this world!

Our Cherry Mocha Truffle is a customer favorite for a reason, that reason being - this combination, the one we’ve described above, is absolutely heavenly!

It’s as if you can taste and feel the cherries subtly bursting under the heat of freshly brewed coffee in real time, this mixture then swirling amidst a waterfall of luxurious and deeply dark chocolate.

So, with a concoction such as this, it’s only fitting that we get into the kitchen and find the best ways to bring out each of these flavors in tasty lattes, iced coffee treats, and more.

As a bonus, we’ve even included a few recipes (a traditional and healthy option) for chocolate cherry truffles you can enjoy alongside your choco-cherry brews.

Cherry Mocha Coffee Recipes And Cherry Mocha Truffles

1- A Cordial Invitation

I wanted to start out our recipe collection today with something so easy, so simple, and so delicious that you’ll be wondering if you missed your calling as a barista!

Even better, this simple creation is a fun and somewhat mesmerizing offering as well.

Of course, you can skip the visual display if you’re in a hurry and follow the instructions to a tee, adding the coffee and quickly stirring to melt the candies under a veil of freshly brewed Lifeboost.

But personally, I love to take it slow with this one, adding only a small amount of coffee at a time so I can fully watch the silky chocolate and confectionery cream melt under the heat of the freshly brewed java.

Ingredients

  • 6 ounces strongly brewed Lifeboost Cherry Mocha Truffle Coffee
  • 2 cherry cordial candies
  • ⅔ cup unsweetened almond milk
  • ¼ cup heavy cream
  • 2 teaspoons cane sugar

Instructions

  • Add heavy cream and cane sugar to a chilled bowl and mix or whisk until peaks form. Soft peaks are okay here, but it’s best to mix a little past this point, somewhere between soft and stiff peaks.
  • Add almond milk to a small saucepan and heat just until warmed through.
  • Add cherry cordials to a large mug, then top with freshly brewed coffee and stir until the candies are completely dissolved. You can strain out the cherries, or leave them in.
  • Pour heated almond milk into the coffee-cordial mixture, then top with a few dollops of freshly whipped heavy cream. Enjoy!

2- Choco-Cherry Coffee

Farther down our recipe list here, you’ll notice a truffle recipe that ties in the classic flavors of a black forest cake with…you guessed it…coffee.

However, if you prefer that combination in sippable form, then this choco-cherry coffee concoction is for you!

Hot coffee, chocolate syrup, maraschino cherry juice, and fluffy whipped cream topping - this one takes the cake, the black forest cake that is.

Ingredients (serves 2)

  • 2 cups freshly brewed Lifeboost Cherry Mocha Truffle Coffee
  • ¼ cup chocolate sauce (see homemade recipe below, or use chocolate syrup of your choice)
  • 2 tablespoons maraschino cherry juice
  • 1 tablespoon cane sugar
  • Whipped cream, for garnish

Instructions

  • Since this recipe makes two servings, you’ll add one cup coffee, ⅛ cup (same as 2 tablespoons) chocolate sauce, 1 tablespoon cherry juice, and ½ tablespoon sugar to each mug, then stir until fully combined.
  • Top each mug with whipped cream, and enjoy!

*You could also drizzle chocolate sauce on top of the whipped cream for an added touch of chocolatey sweetness.

Homemade Chocolate Sauce

  • ¼ cup pure maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder

Add syrup and cocoa powder to a small bowl and mix until well combined. Use immediately, and store remaining syrup in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to two weeks.

3- Dark Cherry Delight

Typically, grenadine is a pomegranate infused simple syrup, but in this recipe, you’ll incorporate a dark cherry grenadine which combines tart cherries with pomegranates, resulting in a sweeter, richer, and more balanced syrup to include in this beverage.

Then, the combination of this syrup with chocolate, milk, and coffee results in a fabulously creamy, slightly tart, rich, and sweet drink that will wow any cherry mocha-loving taste buds.

*Just be sure to look for cherry grenadine as opposed to the traditional red grenadine often used in cocktails which possesses a singular pomegranate flavor.

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces freshly brewed Lifeboost Cherry Mocha Truffle Coffee
  • 2 ounces chocolate syrup
  • 1 ounce dark cherry grenadine syrup
  • 3 ounces whole milk

Instructions

  • Add chocolate syrup, dark cherry syrup, and milk to a mug.
  • Pour in freshly brewed coffee, then stir to combine. Enjoy!

*If you’d like to make this an iced coffee, simply add ice to a tall glass as your base, then use cold brew (instead of freshly brewed coffee) in this recipe. I’d recommend giving it an extra stir or two when using cold brew and cold milk, just to be sure everything combines well.

4- Chilly Cherry Latte

A warm cherry infused coffee treat is often best for bringing out the juicy tartness of the cherry, but personally, I find an iced cherry mocha, like this latte, presents a bit sweeter.

Another personal note…I also feel like the chocolate is detected more in an iced latte, so the combination of those two elements here, chocolate and cherries, make for a truly tasty treat!

I will warn you, you’ll need to perform a few extra steps to indulge in this fantastic latte, making your own cherry syrup and chocolate sauce, but trust me when I say, it’s definitely worth the extra effort.

Ingredients (Serves 2)

  • 6 ounces cold brewed Lifeboost Cherry Mocha Truffle Coffee
  • 4 tablespoons fresh cherry syrup (see recipe below)
  • 10 ounces milk (your choice of milk)
  • Chocolate drizzle (see recipe below)
  • Fresh, pitted cherries, for garnish
  • Ice

Instructions

  • Add ice to two tall glasses, then add 2 tablespoons of fresh cherry syrup to each glass.
  • Add 3 ounces of cold brew and 5 ounces of milk to each glass. You can simply allow these to layer on top of the cherry syrup, or you can stir to combine. Personally, I have to say, this is beautiful when leaving the layers as they are.
  • Drizzle a desired amount of chocolate drizzle on top of the lattes, then garnish each glass with a fresh pitted cherry. Enjoy!

Fresh Cherry Syrup

  • ½ cup fresh cherries, pitted and halved
  • ½ cup sugar
  • ½ cup water
  • ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Add cherries, sugar, and water to a small saucepan over medium heat. Bring to a simmer and cook, stirring frequently, for roughly 5 minutes or until the cherries are very soft. Remove from heat and allow the mixture to cool completely before adding the vanilla extract.

Once completely cooled, add the mixture to a blender and blend until smooth and pureed.

If desired, pour the mixture through a fine mesh strainer to remove any removing bits of cherry.

Chocolate Drizzle

½ cup dark chocolate chips
1 teaspoon coconut oil

Add chocolate and coconut oil to a small heatproof bowl. Place the bowl over a small pot of simmering water, ensuring that the bottom of the bowl does not touch the water.

Stir the mixture until it is completely melted and smooth. Keep the mixture warm until you’re ready to use it in the iced lattes.

5- Mocha Cherry Truffles

Black forest cake meets coffee…that’s how I’d describe these decadent bites of chocolate cherry joy!

And, with that added hint of java in these truffles, if you’re not already enjoying them alongside a piping hot cup of Lifeboost Cherry Mocha Truffle Coffee, your tastebuds will undoubtedly beckon you to your brewer after one rich, confectionery bite!

Ingredients

  • 9 ounces dark chocolate, finely chopped
  • ⅔ cup heavy cream
  • 1-2 teaspoons instant coffee granules (if you want a more noticeable coffee taste, opt for 2 teaspoons)
  • ½ cup dried cherries, finely chopped
  • 3 tablespoons cherry liqueur, optional
  • ⅓ cup cocoa powder
  • 1 pound chocolate melting candy

Instructions

  • Place finely chopped dark chocolate in a heat safe bowl, and set aside.
  • Pour heavy cream into a small saucepan and heat over medium heat until bubbles form along the sides of the pan. Be careful not to let the cream boil.
  • Pour the heated cream over the chopped chocolate and let it sit for one minute, then gently whisk until the chocolate and cream are well combined.
  • Stir the dried cherries, instant coffee, and cherry liqueur (if using) into the ganache until well combined, then cover the mixture and allow it to come to room temperature.
  • Once the mixture is at room temperature, place it into the refrigerator for roughly 2 hours.
  • After 2 hours, remove the mixture from the refrigerator and scoop out one inch sized spoonfuls, rolling each scoop into a ball and placing onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Pour cocoa powder onto a separate sheet of parchment paper. Dust your hands with the cocoa powder, then roll truffles, one by one, into the cocoa powder.
  • Return the prepared truffles to the refrigerator for approximately one hour or until firm.
  • Melt chocolate candy in the microwave in thirty second increments, stirring after each 30 second rotation so the mixture doesn’t overheat.
  • Once the chocolate is completely melted, dip the formed truffles in the chocolate, then return them to the baking sheet.
  • Chill the truffles in the refrigerator until they are completely set (roughly 15 minutes).

*For best taste and texture, these truffles are recommended to be served at room temperature. Store remaining truffles in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

6- Healthy Chocolate Cherry Truffles

If you’re looking for a treat that’s healthier than your typical truffle, these chocolate cherry gems are perfect!

Made of only dried fruit, nuts, and a bit of dark chocolate cocoa powder, these treats make a great energy-boosting snack or side companion to a delicious cup of coffee...and obviously we’d recommend Lifeboost Cherry Mocha Truffle Coffee to fill your mug!

Ingredients

  • ½ cup dried plums (or any dried fruit)
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • ½ cup almonds
  • ½ cup peanuts
  • ½ cup dried cherries
  • ½ cup dark chocolate cocoa powder, plus extra for rolling the truffles

Instructions

  • In a microwave safe bowl, heat the dried fruit with water for one minute, then set aside and allow the mixture to rest as you combine the other ingredients.
  • In a food processor, combine almonds, peanuts, dried cherries, dark chocolate cocoa powder, and the warmed dried fruit and water mixture.
  • Blend until very smooth, scraping the sides of your food processor with a spatula as needed.
  • Remove the mixture from the food processor and place in the refrigerator for 20 minutes.
  • Roll into bite sized balls, then, if desired, roll the truffles in dark chocolate cocoa powder.
  • Store in the refrigerator. Enjoy!

*Note: If you’re a cherry lover, I’d recommend using dried cherries in place of the plums (or any dried fruit). This would double, and isolate, the cherry flavor here. If you opt for this, follow the directions as usual, but simply warm ½ cup of dried cherries with the water instead of the other dried fruit. Then, you’ll still use the non-warmed and hydrated dried cherries as usual in the rest of the recipe.
