Keto Caramel Macchiato

6 min read FEB 17, 2022

When following the keto lifestyle - especially while you have a coffee “addiction” (like us) - it can be challenging to support your love for drinking delicious coffee while upholding the low-carb, high-fat model of the Keto diet.

Not all coffees are Keto-compatible, and certainly not flavored coffees which tend to get their flavor from syrups. Syrups tend to be made from processed and high-calorie sugar, as well as having a high carb count (at least 10g per two teaspoons for the average syrup).

Our caramel macchiato organic coffee beans are Keto-friendly with a rich caramel flavor created from essential oil extract. Because the flavor is drawn from essential oil extract, and not added through a syrup, there are zero calories, no carbs, and no sugar. But the coffee drinker will still experience the delicious sweet and luxurious flavor of caramel.

What this article covers:

Understanding the Keto Diet

To understand the Keto-coffee relationship, one must understand the Keto diet.

Similar to the Atkins diet, the Keto (or Ketogenic) Diet is based on the premise of consuming lower amounts of carbs and higher amounts of fat. Through this shift in what you eat, the body enters a state of ketosis - a metabolic state that turns the body into a fat-burning machine, efficiently converting fat into energy.

This diet furthermore encourages the liver to turn fat into ketones, which are an alternative energy source to carbohydrates to fuel the brain’s cells.

Keto-Friendly Coffee

So back to the coffee (because we can’t help ourselves). Keto-friendly coffee is also known as “bulletproof coffee” - a term coined by entrepreneur David Asprey, who on his travels to Tibet noted how the locals mixed yak milk with tea to give them an energy boost in the mornings.

He brought this concept back with him and created a coffee version (sans the yak milk). Today, Western Keto dieters add full-fat butter or heavy cream to their coffee to up the fat levels, which then aid in the transition to a state of ketosis.

What Coffees are Keto Friendly?

For people looking for Keto-friendly coffee, you need to keep in mind that not all coffee is created equal (in the eyes of Keto anyway) - especially flavored coffees. So which coffee can make a Keto dieter’s world spin while supporting their love for coffee?

Black Coffee

Yup, good old plain black coffee is good for those following a Keto diet. Caffeine isn’t a problem in the Keto diet, and, in fact, has a number of additional health benefits to drinkers (remembering that moderation is always key). If you really want to make their day, have some full-fat grass-fed unsalted butter or heavy cream available that they can add to make it “bulletproof coffee.”

Any brewing methods are fine - from French-press to espresso, pour-over to cold-brew.

Lifeboost Coffees

OK, we know we’re a little biased when it comes to our own coffees - but it’s with good reason.

We are strict about where we source our coffee beans, and how the beans are treated before they reach the cup:

  • Single-origin sourcing to avoid cross-contamination of molds, hand-selected, and mountain-shade grown.
  • No pesticides are used.
  • Washed in spring water and dried naturally by the sun.
  • Hand-roasted in small fresh batches when you order, guaranteeing freshness and flavor.
  • Certified organic, and are 3rd party tested for mycotoxins, molds, heavy metals, and pesticides, along with 400 other toxins to ensure you are getting the cleanest beans.
  • Our coffees are also low acid, which means they won’t

And of course, with all of our flavored coffees getting their delicious fragrances and flavors from essential oil extracts (not just the Caramel Macchiato - there’s even a Pumpkin Spice Macchiato), there are no calories and no sugar in these coffees. So they can be enjoyed guilt-free by anyone.

Why Is Low Acid a Good Thing?

One of the challenges with your average coffee is that it can contain substantial levels of acid. And unfortunately, those following the Keto diet with its high-fat content could suffer from uncomfortable stomachs due to higher acidity build-up from multiple cups of coffee a day.

Because our coffee beans are prepared in a clean and natural way, their acidity is low. This is good news for Keto dieters. They can have their cup and drink it too - without fearing the Dreaded Acidic Stomach Ache or acid reflux that could come from adding more acid to their already acid-intensive diet.

Add Lifeboost to Any Menu

Our broad range of 100% Arabica coffees can really be added to any menu - whether you’re a coffee connoisseur looking to up your range of quality coffees (with the added Lifeboost coffee benefits), or looking for a great gift for someone who adores all things coffee. We’ve got different roast strengths, flavored coffee beans, coffee pods - even ready-made coffee gift baskets

Heck, if you run a coffee bar or eating establishment and want to bring a whole new coffee experience to your menu - then we’ve got all you need too.

And if you’re a Keto lifestyle follower, or just want to enjoy your coffee as naturally and healthily as possible, then we’ve got you too! Zero sugar, zero calories, 100% flavor, 100% quality.
